I would like to start of by stating that this will be one of the most memorable seasons that I have ever had as a Head Coach or player in my 30+ years of being involved in the game of baseball. The incident that happened on Monday night truly gives the phrase "when you think you seen it all...." a whole new meaning. It is said that losing shows the true character of a team and if that is so, then let me state that our 2011 Varsity Baseball team has a group of young men that are filled with great character. That is a testament to all of you parents out there who had countless of days throwing with your son in the back yard, drove them to and from practice, stay at hotels for state, summer, or travel tournaments, spent time in the doctors/ orthopedic surgeons office, and dealt with the joy of winning and the agony of defeat.
I personally would like to THANK ALL OF YOU from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity to coach your son, it was an honor.
I also would like to state how PROUD I am of our team for going through a gauntlet of emotions in a span of minutes from pure joy and elation, to extreme rage, to absolute inconsolable sadness to show class and dignity in congratulating Deerfield Beach. We sat out to make history by qualifying for the first time in school history for regionals, yet it was taken away and during that process created a lasting memory for this team that will be talked about for a long time in Broward County baseball. It still feels surreal, but like all things in life we take something like this, we learn and we move on.
Our baseball program will be having our final meeting on Monday May 2 right after school in Room 401. All Uniforms and Polo Shirts will be handed in along with all helmets that were given out. Please make sure that uniforms and polos are washed. I thank all of you for a great season and can't wait to see everyone again at our Baseball Banquet on May 22
