Baseball the Jaguar Way

Game day preparation

The team motto is “Everyday we’ve got to get better” as the coaching staff feels that if the team works hard to get better everyday, then they will be where they want to be at the end of the season, reaching for the ultimate goals of district and state championships. Another motto is “Check your egos at the door” so the players understand that baseball is a team sport and that every single player has a role on the team. The coaches have further instilled the belief that if every player remains dedicated to the program, works hard, stays focused and does the right thing in the classroom as well as at home, that good fortune will smile upon the team.

From day 1, Coach Giummule set the standards at a higher level than most programs. Instead of playing a JV schedule and building for three years down the road, the coaching staff believed that even in the inaugural 2005 season, with proper fundamentals and paying attention to details, that a district title was within reach. Despite falling just short of that goal, the initial season was a major success, including a victory over the eventual 6A state champion.
